Fern Canyon in Pine Creek Canyon at Red Rock A group of 8 Bighorn in Pine Creek Canyon. You have to really look to pick them out of the background. Stan, Dorothy and I were on our way down from the Fern Canyon Hike
and they crossed the trail right behind us.
Pine Creek Canyon at Red Rock from the loop road. The center Mountain is Little Mescalito...we took the right side of the canyon to get into Fern Creek. Pine Creek is the only canyon in Red Rock that closely resembles its prehistoric state.
A hike in 11/01 with Jack - year round water pools...an easy hike for family and friends.
A great place to sit and enjoy a lunch, the pool below the rock is green with moss...the only sound is silence. Peaceful and beautiful, it's app. 1 1/2 miles to this spot from the Loop Road. Although it's hard to discern from this photo, there are ferns underneath the rocks.
Further up the canyon, the way becomes much tougher to navigate and the water eventually disappears...still ruggedly beautiful with a pool of water.
There is water along the base of the wall on the right. Beautifully wild and rugged the canyon shows a life away from the turmoil and stress of Las Vegas that few people ever realize exist.
