Sloan Canyon Linda, Dan and Jan Burch did this hike. It's location is not published at this time, due to man's nature to destroy the history of our land and its people. It's walls are filled with petroglyphs. Some are still extremely detailed and distinct, others are fading, and others have been destroyed by people trying to chisel off the rock to take it home. Sad. We walked approximately 1.2 miles up the canyon, crossing several dry falls, before we reached the museum of rock art.
This is the composition of the canyon walls.
Dan and Jan navigating the worst of the Dry Falls.
One great picture of what we believe is depicting a lizard.
Looks like E.T. visited here.
BTW it was colder than hell with an extreme wind. We were bundled and I was wishing I had another jacket.
Jan and Dan posing.
We're planning another trip. The shadows were enveloping the canyon, even though we arrived there by a little before noon. More pictures at another time, hopefully without some of the shadow. |
