After 4 wheeling almost 6 miles up Calville Wash, it dead ends into this mini version of a Narrows. We walk through this to begin our hike.
We walked through two more mini-narrows and climbed out of this wash. Our route was behind us, over the ridge to the East Bowl.
This whole section is filled with Nature's carvings...little caves/houses...some with windows and exit doors, all beautifully done in red.
Pictures can only touch the surface of how beautiful this region is.
After viewing this on the computer, I see an alien insect, ready to pounce and waiting for prey to pass below the rock.
How long did it take for the wind and water to wear through the stone? How does it make perfect holes and caverns out of walls of rock?
One of the dry falls - filled with water after the rains.
Wayne sits in a small grotto - the sandstone is two different colors in this area.
Designer rock - wish I could decorate one of the walls in my house with this.
Lake Mead is straight ahead...somewhere.
Shadows in the Bowl add to the beauty.
Wayne playing in the grottos.
I talked Wayne into squeezing into this one...although there was ample room inside, the doorway was quite small.
Another fascinating arch by Nature!
The Mountains behind the Bowl.
The fine edge of an artist - water and wind sculpt the edge along the pool.
The sandstone reflecting in the water makes this picture appear to be on its side.
So ends our hike...back through the wash we started in. Water in the wash and all the dry falls changed our course.
